Recording to drive

I'd like to make a short voice recording using my internal microphone and save it to my computer. How can I do this? I thought I did this a few years ago, but can't remember how I did it.

Do you have Garageband? Quicktime Pro?

If not.... download a free program called Audacity... Go into preferences and select "built in microphone" if you are talking about an MBP...
If you are plugging a computer mic then select "built in input".
Hit record and you should be off and running.

Thank you for the info. I tried Garage Band and it worked. I also downloaded Audacity. I think it's better for my purposes.
