• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I am looking into buying a MacBook Pro. I will be using it for Movie editing.
the only difference between the 15-inch 5.4GHz and the 15-inch 5.5GHz is
the first has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 256MB and the latter has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB... Will the 256MB make much a difference?

Thank you!

You mean 2.4 and 2.5ghz. ;D

5ghz  not right...

Anyways, your original question.

If you are doing extensive and more on the professional video editing side, using more demanding programs, it's better to go with the 512mb.

Putting the cards side-by-side on the same program, you would see better performance from the 512mb.

But if it's just as a hobby thing, and you aren't using programs like Final Cut for example, then the 256mb will be sufficient enough.
