Compressor Issue?

I have just recently started using this program and keep running into one major issue. Seems like I keep loosing my internet connection and when I do compressor stops working. Most of the clips I need to compress from Final Cut are 30 seconds long and they take over 3 hours to compress. Can any one shed some words of wisdom onto me? Thanks
