I am not really clear on some of this, apologies in advance.

I download a dmg file (utility) from the internet. It now resides on my desktop, I double click and it installs (in this case, Labtick). Works good but I still have the icon on the desktop and I want it gone. I cannot eject it because it is in use.
I have a suspicion that I should have done something else with it b4 I ran it.
What am I missing here.
It does appear in applications, and if I terminate the program it disappears, but as long as it is running it's on the desktop.

TIA Peter

Open the dmg.

drag the application to your applications folder

eject the dmg

run the application from the applications folder.

I suspect that by double-clicking you are just running the app from the dmg not installing it.
