Hi,
I am considering either a Macbook or Macbook pro for some word processing and computer modelling.

My university has a lot of expensive modelling program that I will not be able to obtain for the Mac. I wanted to know if it is possible to do a remote desktop connection between a Mac and a PC.
Thanks

Indeed it is. Microsoft supplies the client for free. Search their site for the RDC client, I think they recently released an updated beta.

Your Mac can also run Windows either natively with Boot Camp or with a virtualization product such as Parallels or VMware. Both of those cost a bit (under $100US) while Boot Camp comes with Leopard. Either way you have to buy Windows, but the options with a Mac with Windows are excellent.

Way... way too many specs to list.
The free MS RDC client actually works well too.
