Coolest Desktop Ever!!!

I just downloaded Onyx, having never used it before.

Parameters > Animated Desktop lets you use animated screen savers as desktops! This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! Beaches and Cosmos are awesome!

It warns that you will need a lot of machine to do this, but I'm using a 2.2 MB w/ 2gb and I notice no difference in performance.

Imagine if Apple set their machines up like this in the retail stores...

Would mine work well with it? I have 1 GB of ram.

Onyx is a OS maintenance program. I didn't expect it to have this feature.

If it doesn't run well, it's only a couple clicks to turn it off.

I need every RAM I can get so I didn't use this feature.

That's really a hidden feature of the OS. It's been around since 10.2 at least. There's a couple dozen different utilities out there that will enable it for ya.

I researched this a little and found a way to resolve this problem. I downloaded BGScreenSaver--a tiny application that turns this feature on and off.

I added this application to the Login Items which automatically run each time OS X starts.

System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items

There is another one, I forgot the name, that I used on a 1.4ghz G4. It let you set the thread priority. So I cranked it all the way down. The background animated slower, but it did not interfere with other apps.
