Why won't my quicktime player play some AVI files and not others. It says to download something more at their site but I haven't been able to find it.

Any ideas?

i think it has something to do with how the files were encoded. Try vlc player, it plays almost any video file you can throw at it.

XviD

Download the XviD codec for mac.
That worked for me. This seems to be an issue with the latest version of QT.
I had 7.4.1 & it was working fine until I updated to 7.4.5
