Is there a way to get iDVD or Toast to let me put chapter markers wherever the heck I want 'em? Seems that they only allow you to either mark chapters every "x" number of minutes or to have the program automatically detect scenes and mark chapters based on that.

what software are you using to make the video?

IF your using final cut find where you want a new chapter to be, hit M once then again a box will come up, select make chapter marker. When you export export with chapter markers and when you put it in idvd the chapters will already be there.

I TRIED using Toast and iDVD, like I said...that's what I have at my disposal...

I believe you have to make the chapter markers before you even bring it into iDVD. You need to use iMovie or something to make them, and then iDVD will interpret that information.

iMovie no longer does chapter markers, though.
