• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I'm trying to make a claymation in iMovie. I've imported into iMovie, but they're all set at 5 seconds by default. I want them each to be set at about .2 seconds, so I have to set them individually one by one, then drag them into my timeline thing. I have 100+ pictures, so this takes forever. Is there a simpler way to do this?

Thanks.

I believe I know the answers, but I'm not going to explain this twice, so what version of iMovie are you using.

OK, that is iMovie HD you have. The latest version is 6.0.4, which is what I tested against.

You perform a select-all on the images in your time line. Choose the media tab and the Photos tab for that. That displays a button that says "Show Photo Settings". With the images selected in the time line, click that button to bring up a window to set the frame count and ken burns effect. Tripple click the numbers next to the turtle. The first is seconds and the second is the frame count (0-29).

I'm seeing a bug where you can't create less than 11 frames per image, so it would seem you can't do the .2 seconds (6 frames) you are looking for. I get the Invalid message; "Fell short of minimum. The value must be between 00:03 and 60:00.". My iMovie HD has another problem, so maybe this is only affecting me.

You might want to look into iStopMotion for this type of work.

It affects me too, but not when I do each picture individually once they are on the timeline. Sometimes it will import though, but randomly it will go in at 00:09:29. With all of the rave I heard about iMovie, I'm not too impressed.

I received the 9:29 time too.

Keep in mind, as good as iMovie is, it is a basic tool and as all software does, it has its own share of bugs.
