Help... UNIX or MAC OS X Journaled?

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me which is better UNIX or Mac OS X Journaled when i restore my Mac. I have no idea what the difference is so i was wondering if there IS a difference at all, and if there is which is better.
I also have a question: What is Crons and what is MacJanitor and are these programs obligatory, or how do they work and what for?

Mac OS X is based on Nextsep, a form of FreeBSD (Unix) Macjanitor runs crons through GUI, but crons can be run: Finder, Applications. Utilities Terminal type (switching to root - superuser) sudo sh /etc/daily > this needs to be done /weekly (instead of daily) and monthly. again with all apps closed.

Mac OSX Journaled is better.

As for crons, they're not obligatory and if you leave your Mac on ever overnight, they'll be run automatically by the OS.

long story short, I have tried both and workes fine, but some apps require mac OS X journaled. so i suggest to go for journaled
