I'm buying a Mac soon and just wondering what would be a better deal.... Or what I should go with....

I'm looking to do just basic stuff, email, internet, pics, music, stuff like that. I have two questions...

1) What would be the best way to go, this Power Book or a new Macbook

1.5 ghz PPC
512mb ram (expandable to 2gb)
100gb HDD (upgraded from 80gb)
ATI Radeon 9700 w/ 64mb of ddr sdram
Slot-loading Superdrive (DVD-R/CD-RW)
PC card/cardbus slot, firewire 800 port, firewire 400 port, 2 USB 2.0 ports
DVI and S-video output ports; adapters included
Airport 802.11 b/g
Built-in bluetooth
AC Adapters

2) What would be a reasonable price for this laptop?

Sorry about the title I hit the enter button too quickly....

nickster,

Depends on how much you want to spend and what size you want/need. I bought a Macbook because I like the 13 inch size and lesser weight and it certainly does the job for me! That Pro looks like an older model - can you get it for a good price? It would certainly do what you need...

My Macbook has a 2.2GHz CPU and had a 120GB hard drive and 1GB RAM when I bought it. I paid $1150 for it new. For an extra $250 I bought and installed 4GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive.

Definitely the new Macbook. PowerPC is old technology, doesn't make much sense to invest in it anymore.
