    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.

Hi,

I have a large collection of videos in .mp4 format that for some reason Quicktime player doesn't seem to like. When I was using Linux the movies always played fine in VLC and mplayer, and they still do using the same applications under Tiger, but when I try and play the movies using Quicktime I get the following error message...

"The movie could not be opened. An invalid sample description was found in the movie."

Obviously, I can still watch the movies in another app, but I need them to play in Quicktime so I can watch them in Front Row when I'm using my Mac as a media centre.

Any help on the reasons why Quicktime won't play the movies would be greatly appreciated.
