New to editing - Best way to transfer to MacBook?

I've got a Sony DCR-PC105E Handycam, and up until now whenever I wanted to put something onto dvd I just connected it straight to the tv and recorded it directly through the dvd recorder.

However, that's just died on me and as I've recently bought a Macbook I'd like to try a bit of editing. So what's the best way to transfer from the tape to the Macbook? Should I use a USB cable or a Firewire cable, or is there another option using the Mini DVI port on the side of the Macbook?

I've lost all the leads that came with it so will be buying one from new.

Firewire is the best way to get video from a camera to your Mac. The mini-DVI port is for video output only, not input.

I'd like to comment on the cable you linked to, but it doesn't seem to be working for me (more likely due to my spotty university wireless than the link itself). However, if it's a 4-pin to 6-pin Firewire cable, then that would work just fine.
