• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hello all,

Recently i got a couple of cd's with avi files from a friend, and found i could not view them on my macbook (not running leopard). it asks me what i want to use to open the cd, and thats where i'm stuck. i have no idea where to even start, i've tried scouring google and the forums but even after loading the suggested programs, i can't seem to get the info of the cd, forget even trying to view the avi files. If anyone has any suggestions, or wants me to snag any print screens (can you even do that on a mac? i don't see a button O:) ), just let me know.

Does the cd even show up on the desktop? If it does, when you open the cd in finder do any files show up inside it? You shouldn't have to use an application just to look inside the cd.

And you press Command+Shift+3 to take a screenshot of the entire desktop.
Command+Shift+4 allows you to select an area on the screen to snapshot.
