    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. I've ordered the Canon ZR950 but may have to cancel after reading that it takes control of all firewire ports when connected.

Sorry about a post that is similar to my first - I'm hoping somebody can recommend a newer camera for under $500 that they use to edit with a new MacBook on FCE via firewire. I would also be digitizing and editing to a 2nd drive connected via Firewire.

Anybody use a sub$500 with ease?

Thanks in advance!

I am using the Panasonic PV-GS320 Mini-DV camcorder. It is the top rated consumer level Mini-DV camcorder by Consumer Reports. Best Buy had it for $449.00, but I was able to get it for $368.00 price match of Circuit City. I did it that way because Circuit City's extended warranty was too high priced.

Although I am on an iMac...I have an external hard drive connected with firewire 800 and I connect this camera with firewire 400 with no issues. Works perfect. This camera is very easy to use.

Apparently, these Canon camcorders don't allow sharing of the firewire port.

If you're connecting it to a Macbook which only has a single Firewire port, what's the problem?
