• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.

I just picked up the Canon ZR950 camera to shoot video of the new baby coming in a couple of weeks and am thinking about getting a Mac laptop to edit video.

Anybody use this camera? I just got a bit nervous after reading that a user had no luck w/ the firewire connection to pull video from the camera.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge. Have a great rest of the day!

Zr950

Not much luck w/ other users and the ZR950 I guess.

I'm thinking that if I get the MacBook pro I should be fine. Any reason to get the 512MB video card (if I'm doing editing)? Or would the 256 be okay?

Just trying to get something do edit basic projects on (and maybe buy the Final Cut express as well).

I can't speak to the ZR950, but the ZR line has worked well in the past with Mac software.

You can only put so much faith in a one bad user experience. Try the camera with what ever system you currently have. Firewire cards for desk tops can be had for under $25. That is a lot cheaper than buying a Mac.

my Canon HV20 works great with my Mac. I've always used Mac with my camcorders with no problems. iMovie and iDVD really work very well.

Hope this helps
