The movie itself should play just fine, it's the DVD-ROM features that are Windows only. It's probably just a pretty front end to the movie anyway.

What does DVD player do when you open it and try to play the movie?

The times I've had that kind of issue the disc isn't visible in the Finder or DVD Play just says it can't play the disc. The way I 'fixed' it was to set the DVD preference to open the disk in another application such as Handbrake or Mac the Ripper which allowed the disc to load. I have ABSOLUTELY no aswer to why that worked for me. I think I've used that trick only 3 or 4 times. Once the disc is seen, I can then play it in DVD Player.

Keep in mind this could be the studios fault as they continue to try to stop computers from making copies.

Use Handbrake.

The alternate ending is far better than the theatrical ending.

The DVD Region may not be set correctly to your area. If you try to open it in Front Row it will say the DVD can not be played. If you open it in DVD Player, it will allow to set the region code.

If thats not the problem then try a program called MPEG Streamclip. It can read just about anything.
