I bought my iPhone from craigslist about two months ago and I went online to check its warranty status today and it says its applecare runs through till 2009... can I go to the apple store and have them repair it (it freezes up tons and also the speaker volume is so low compared to recent iphones) even though I have no receipt for it?

I mean I dont know where the original seller got it from, I got it with no box, just the charger and a simcard inside the phone... will I get in trouble or have the phone taken away if it turns out the phone may be stolen or something?

It came unlocked so I didn't have to activate, I just put my sim card in and began using it...

If the phone is unlocked, even if it's on AT&T I don't think they will help you. They have a pretty strict policy when it comes to unlocked and/or jailbroken phones, they won't work on them.

Not with an unlocked phone. For that, you need to "virginize" it to re-lock it. Restoring simply wipes the jailbreak.

Technically if you do all that, then yes, you should be able to take it in for repair.
