Hi all,

I recently decided I am going to purchase a MacBook Pro, the $1999 version with the 200GB of hard disc space and would really like some help in getting a proper setup.

On my current desktop I have a 200GB internal drive, and a 500GB internal drive both SATA... can I turn them into externals somehow?

Also, what would be the best way to organize my files in my mac and whatever external storage I use? I do a lot of web design and music production and really need those files on demand but there is so many of them that I am afraid my 200GB mac drive will be full... how can I use my mac drive and external in a way that gives me the best mobility and security?

Thanks for any help.

Your Mac's Specs
Mac Pro 8 core 2.8Ghz, 12GB RAM, 2.3TB HD; MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 200GB HD
You can buy external enclosures for your current drives that would allow you to access them via USB. Newegg has tons of them.

As for what you put where - just make sure you have a decent backup strategy - that's the most important thing. Keep your backups on one of your external drives. Time Machine is excellent for this.

If you want a bit of extra piece of mind - what happens if your house burns down or your external HD fails or your failing external HD burns your house down? - then you might want to invest in some offsite backup as well. I've heard http://mozy.com/ is very good for this, albeit somewhat slow.
