Never a problem like this with my series 0 (which I had until the watch face came separated this past summer). Bought a Series 4 on August 31 and it's been working great until the other night when I sent to connect it to its charger (the one that came with it). I didn't hear the usual charging chime nor see the large green lightning bolt confirming charging had started. I took it off and put it back on the charger, rotated it a bit, and then I got the chime and large green bolt. Next morning I put my watch on and get a haptic tap alerting me that I'm under 10% power! Watch was warm like it normally is after charging. I put it back on the charger and get nothing. Tried a different USB AC adapter (both Apple OEM) and also the charging cable that came with my Series 0. No joy. Tried different outlets too and also direct USB charging through a USB BUS. I turned the watch off in the midst of trying different things, and now it won't turn on. Read online where people were recommending holding the crown and side button in to force restart, but no joy on that either (probably not enough power). All that happens now is the time will display in the top right and a red bolt in the top left. Sometimes the red bolt will turn green when I connect it to the charger, but then it just turns red again after a few seconds. I've left it on the charger for hours at a time, but it never will restart. Just the same results.

Any ideas or is it time to head to the Apple Store? My guess would be a faulty battery.

It could be the watch; the charging pad; or the port/USB brick that the charging pad is plugged into. Or even the outlet/surge protector it's all plugged into (make sure your surge protector is on, if you are using one). You can try a different charging pad or plug what you do have into a different power source.

As stated in my post, I tried all that.

*doh* My bad.... totally overlooked that line. Well other than doing a hard reboot, which you've already done, your only option left is to take it up with Apple.

As you've done, I've had my Series 3 not fully charge over night, but that's more a matter of me dropping it on its charger without looking to see if it was actually charging. After doing that a couple of times, I got into the habit of looking for the lightening bolt before walking away. It sounds like you've done all that you can and either the charging pad is busted (cheaper to fix) or the watch's charging circuit has failed.

When you say it gets warm after you take it off the charger, how warm is it? My S3 or my S5 don't get that warm once taken off the charger.

If you know someone else who has a AW and can compare the warmth, that'll be good to know, but if unusually warm and not coming on at all now, it might be the watch's charger has failed and if it was at 10% of below, the battery is depleted and that's why it wont power on.

Obviously this is subjective, but it's definitely not "hot" but it is quite warm, maybe warmer than it usually was when it charged correctly. Not sure, though. I've now tried a total of 3 chargers, two Apple OEM and one 3rd party (which claims to be "certified" and was highly rated on Amazon). Same result (nothing) with all three, and now the watch is completely dead. I have an appointment at my local Apple Store this coming Saturday. I'll report back what happens. Thankfully I'm within a year of purchase, so I'm sure they'll either offer to repair or replace.

I suspect they will replace your watch. I'm not even sure if Apple has new refurbished units for replacements as they commonly do with iPhones.

Just got word from Apple that they are sending me a replacement. Yay! Question: does the 1-year standard warranty apply to replacement products too or is the warranty period still based on the purchase date of the original product?

I believe the replacement AW will be warranted for the remainder of your original warranty. I might be wrong about that so it's best to check with Apple.
