I guess this is my sign it's time to buy a new Apple Watch?

I have an original (series 0) Apple Watch. Just peeled off my sun-protection arm sleeves I use when doing outdoor work, and the screen of my Apple Watch rips right off with it

Yep. The cable to the screen is severed, so even if you tried to do anything, the screen is not going to work. Save up those pennies and get a new one. There are Model 4s in the Apple Refurbished area. You might also check with Best Buy and even B&H Photo.

You mean duct tape won't work?!?! :D Already ordered a Series 4 on Amazon. I know a new one is probably going to be announced soon, but I don't really care. I was already fine with being multiple generations behind.

Good catch John. I just noticed the condition of the battery, and yes, it does look swollen. Probably why the screen popped off.

I'm very much enjoying the Series 4! I got the basic aluminum with sports band in the 44mm size - GPS only. It's amazing how much bigger the screen seems in comparison to my old 42mm Series 0!

Mine just popped off the screen one night sitting on a bedside table. Didn't check the battery state, but don't remember anything obvious. Won't be replacing it. Not because of this but because it didn't do enough for my lifestyle to justify the cost.
