Hello to everyone,
i am a new italian user...excuse for my bad english!

I have a problem that seems uncommon on the Italian forums.

I own a series 0 apple watch (2015) with watchos 3.2.3 that if put in airplane mode it loses about 10% of battery in the night.
because?
it's normal?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Even in airplane mode the watch is still running, keeping time, monitoring your pulse (if you are wearing it). So yes, the battery will go down during the night.

And your English is excellent. Much better than my Italian!

Many thanks for the answer and for my iglese macaroni ;)
My doubt was about the difference between airplane mode on apple watch over the iphone that usually loses about 2-3% of battery in one night.

This strange difference...

Portable computers, tablets, smartphones, smart watches (basically all electronic devices with a rechargeable battery)...tend to lose battery charge overnight. Each probably at a different rate...and it may have something to do with the total capacity of the battery (how many milliamp hours it can hold at max. charge)...compared with the amount of energy it uses while sleeping.

Smartwatches are capable of doing quite a few things...but also probably have a fairly small capacity battery. I will admit...10% battery charge lost/night is a lot.

Do you wear your Apple watch when you are sleeping in bed at night?

No, I do not wear the watch overnight .. I leave it on the table.
Some users on Italian forums complained about my same problem even on the second series .. the same problem now.
I did the online test with the apple support and say that the battery is still ok since last year I was replaced with a refurbished.
I can not have many opinions because not everyone is using airplane mode at night.

For you is a problem ? what do I suggest to do?

Thanks
Fabio

I would suggest nothing and don't worry about it. Consider this: If you sleep 8 hours, with the watch on the counter and lose 10%, that means you would lose 30% in a full day. Not that bad, actually. How much does it lose if you don't put it in airplane mode? Bear in mind that the LEDs on the inside face will be firing to see if you have put it on your wrist every few minutes, even in airplane mode, plus the watch is running to keep time. So even in airplane mode, the watch is not idle.

So, I would say sleep well and don't worry about it.

Agree with Jake. What you're seeing may be normal. I know one of my laptops loses 3-5% battery charge each night when sleeping. I know that if I'm going to be away from home for an extended period of time...I make sure to shut down this laptop...so the battery does not completely drain while I'm away from home (which is not very good for it).

I will give my 2 cents. I occasionally will wear my watch to bed. I like to use the alarm to wake me up and not disturb my husband. I will turn on the theater mode so the screen does not wake me up. I have done this with my Series 0, 2, and 3 watches. I usually lose 2-3% of battery life. One thing I do is turn off a lot of notifications so basically I have messages, calls and the alarm app running. I don't put it in airplane mode.

With the upgrades in the Watch OS there have been upgrades that have improved battery life. I am wondering if the fact you are still on Watch OS 3.2.3 might be the issue. You might think about upgrading to OS 4 and see if that helps.
