I feel bad for the people that bought AppleCare just for this problem on their newer computers. 4 years of coverage for this issue seems like a good amount of time, especially since they will replace it with the newer gen keybaords. Mannn...this keyboard fiasco just needs to disappear! And by that, I mean go away so people don't have problems anymore. I wonder what Apple will do next to permanently eliminate this issue? It's a monumental task to replace the keyboard! I have an extremely hard time believing that someone can do this repair so well that your computer is in the same exact condition you brought it in(minus the original problem)...especially since Apple is now rushing these repairs in order to have quicker turn-around times.
I feel weird about this issue because after owning my 15" w/Touch Bar, and now my late 2013 15" retina, the 2013 keyboard feels like I have to do more work to type, while the 2018 allows for quicker typing, but could prove problematic down the line. There are positives and negatives for both keyboards. I love my 2018...a LOT, but in the end, something that is ultimately designed with form over function fails for me. I wish Apple would STOP with their "design over function" motto. Build something right that works and functions. I bet you people are willing to overlook a millimeter or two difference if something is built like a tank.
I wonder what their next keyboard design will be....
