Hi -

Currently have a 2012 MBPro with Retina Display running El Capitan and still doing great. My college-age daughter needs a new computer and asked for one of the new MacBook Airs coming out soon.

I'd like to know the major differences between the MBPro line and the new Air line. Can you load software on the Air? Does it have a hard drive? I really have no clue as to the differences.

Thanks to all who respond. Much appreciated.

It's been around a year since the MacBook Air was updated so we might see a new model probably sometime this Spring. However, no one here knows what Apple is planning on doing. As far as configuration goes, that too is unknown, but it certainly will have flash storage. You might be interested in glancing over and reading the Mac Buyers Guide in the Macrumors forum.
