What's all the fuss? Please clue me in on the advantages of publishing photos and home movies on my own personal web site? You should see some of my home movies and photos - believe me, only my dearest friends would allocate a small amount of time viewing these creations!

Is it for storage? or what?

well if it would not be of use to you, don't use it!

but for many other people it is a great way to share photos with large familys, friends, and groups who like the same things. This is what iweb is for, just publishing to your .mac homepage. .Mac is also good for storing files, you can use up too 2 gigabytes of online storage, this is useful for multiple computers, sharing information and storing valuable files

I publish photos on my web site so that I can share them with my family and friends all over the country. Sending someone a link is a lot easier and more reliable than sending someone photos as attachments.

Personally, I have not tried iWeb; however, I use gallery, which is super easy to use and is very customizable.

Here is a link to gallery:

I have a website, it is my name with .com at the end. I use it to let friends and family know whats going on, put up pics, and occsionally rant about stuff that pisses me off. It is only intended for my friends to look at, and in that repsect it works quite well. I also have a email with my name in it that only my friends get, and it has for the most part been spam free for a few years.

I'm using a php blogging script called Serendipity for the "articles" and a php photo gallery called Coppermine. They work well, but I'm interested in iWeb to see if it can be even easier.

I am afriad to make the jump to .mac though. It is about the same as what I'm paying now, but I'm haven't looked to see if there was a way to still keep my custom URL and email address. I guess I could just have the URL forwarded, but I'm not sure about the email addy.
