My macbook is running really slow when connected to an external monitor. It runs slow, then freezes, then unfreezes, the dock wont appear. Idk if this is because of the monitor (however its worked fine with the monitor for 2 months now) or due to the fact I have only 30GB free space on my HD, or something else...? Any ideas?

it's worth a shot to just do some basic cleanup. try "mainmenu" or "onyx." both can be found at versiontracker.com and can be used to do some basic housecleaning like cleaning up old logs and caches. the first time you restart after this sort of thing will be just a bit slower, but you'll notice your system pep up right after that.

it's worth a try, and something you should get used to doing anyway. if it doesn't help, someone else will certainly have some more advice.

ok so i narrowed it down it is not the monitor, it is the KVM switch it was connected to? For some reason?

an old Sony 19" crt monster. The thing that bugs me is it worked fine for 2 months and all the sudden doesn't (the monitor works, just not when hooked to the macbook and the KVM).

Started working again, read a trick online that if you restard both computers that are connected to the kvm it resets the kvm. Also iogear kvms have difficulty with logitech wireless products (so I was told)
