taking MBP to repair center to replace thermal paste?

Hello,
I'm about ready to toss my new Mac Book Pro on eBay and look into other options...more specifically, cooler options. This thing is rediculous. When I'm playing Call of Duty I can feel the heat from the laptop when my hands are a few inches away. The MBP has even warped the fake wood finish on the stand it sits on. I'm too afraid to take this thing on my bed or couch. Instant fire hazard.

So here is what I was thinking...
If I was to take my MBP into an Apple Certified repair center and explain my heat issue. Could they reapply the thermal paste in the laptop without voiding my warranty? Would I be charged for this "repair" even though I am still under my one-year warranty?

Any help is appreciated...
Thanks.

They might pull out the "Its within operating temperature" card. you never know. Mabye just take it up there after its been on for awhile, and hold it agains a apple store employee's face.... THAT might help... but probably not.... :) Mabye call apple care? or just go up there?

I've only had mine a couple of weeks and it's pretty warm but I put that down to the fact that the processor runs hot and it's a thin-and-light. Apple does say on the website you shouldn't put it on your lap, so I doubt they'd be sympathetic about heat tbh.

I don't do gaming but I'd wager it puts the unit under more stress which might explain the extra heat.

i'll be stopping into the certified repair center soon, and i'll let you know what they say. hopefully they will be on my side and put the thermal paste on the right way.
