Hi there, I have another "does not start" MacBook Air A1466 13", and its got me stuffed. I have reset the SMC and NVRAM to no avail.
If I disconnect the magsafe and the battery, then re-connect the magsafe then the MacBook will start OK without using teh power button. Once started I can turn it off with the power button OK, which I think tells me that the upper case is alright. While running, if I disconnect the magsafe the machine will shut off regardless of whether the battery is connected or not. Once I have shut it down I cannot restart it without disconnecting power/battery etc.
The magsafe light starts at green and then goes to orange, staying there whether or not the battery is connected.
Once I have started the machine, it tells me that there is not a battery connected, which is fine and fits with what I am getting, but this was a sudden failure. My daughter re-connected power after the battery hit 4%, and then the machine powered off and that was the end of it. Also teh machine will not start with the power button with the magsafe connected and the battery disconnected.
I have run the diagnostics at start-up, and I get no errors other than the battery is not connected (when it is). I suppose what I am looking for is an opinion as to whether I am looking at replacing the DC input board (cheap), the battery (less cheap) or if it is the logic board and I should just bin the whole thing.
Any help I get on this is very much appreciated. This is my first post, but I am emotionally robust enough to be told I am missing the obvious.
