Trying to find out if anyone has tried to update the graphics card in a late 2011 macbook pro. I am aware that the graphics card is soldered in and was thinking that maybe that I could swap out the motherboard for a newer on that accepts metal capable graphics card. Would this be worth the time? If so what producst should I look into getting to do this. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to our forums.

First, please do not cross post. We removed your duplicate post.

As far as replacing the motherboard (logic board) it's a project that may or may not work and can be expensive depending on where you purchase the board from. Also, your 2011 MacBook Pro is going on 9 years old. Your MBP can run High Sierra (10.13.X) which is a very good version of macOS and still supported by Apple. Perhaps it might be better to save toward a later MacBook Pro model.

You can look at the tear downs of the different versions of MBP and you will likely find that they do not share the same logicboard design, so unlikely you can swap them that way.

...was thinking that maybe that I could swap out the motherboard for a newer on that accepts metal capable graphics card.

The difficulty with this is motherboards from newer models may & probably will not fit physically...and from time to time Apple changes the ports on a motherboard...which again does not allow them to fit in an older MacBook Pro enclosure.
