Hello everyone,

As the title states, I'd need help with a monitor issue:

I purchased another external monitor and would like to use them both in extended mode, not mirror. I'd bought a MINI DP adapter with 2x HDMI connections. The adapter works great for mirroring but not as extended.

Question: Do I have to buy another adapter ?
Can I use another port, perhaps USB to HDMI (with adapter of course) ?

Thank you for all the help, I sure have no clue what I'm doing. I couldn't find any info on the net for my now ancient MacBook Pro Mid 2012.....

Did a little bit more research. Check out this thread about using a Matrox box. I have one I am using on a Windows computer that is driving two monitors.

This adapter doesn't seem to support a Mac.
OSs listed are: Microsoft® Windows® 10 (32/64bit), Windows 8 (32/64bit), Windows 7 (32/64bit), Windows Vista® (32/64bit), Windows XP (32/64bit), Windows Server® 2012 (32/64bit), Windows Server 2003/2008 (32/64bit) and Linux® 2

There were some options for the Mac that were suggested in the link I posted.

Thank you for all the help. I think I will get a new MacBook Pro, did a bit of research and came across the model # MUHN2D/A..... I'm living in Europe now and would prefer a European keyboard anyhow.

It's a real shame I don't get to keep it, because I upgraded to 16GB and have a 500SSD installed.
