Hi all,

I've been given my girlfriend's old 2015 12" Macbook to fix (she put an earring through the bottom of the screen when she closed it) and I've hit a roadblock at stage one - one of the small p5 pentalobe screws below the trackpad is stripped and won't budge. I can't get anything to bite on it

I've tried cloth, rubber bands, foil, super glue and nothing will make it budge, I'm running out of options.

Does anyone else have any clever ideas or any experience and tips on drilling screws as small as this one out as I'm reckoning that might be my only option at this point.

Any help is appreciated
Thank you

Your local hardware store may have what is called an "easy out" tool. Basically, it is a reversed thread screw type thing that tightens up as you turn it in the unscrewing direction. You will need a small one, obviously, so what I would do is take the Mac to the store with you to fit one perfectly. You might not even need to drill, if there is enough of the screw left for the easy-out to grab. Here is what I'm talking about at Amazon, but again, I'd recommend taking the Mac to the hardware store to get a good fit. A "real" hardware store might be better than a big-box store.
