Thought it's worth to ask.

MBA stopped turning on. Was working fine about a month ago (didn't use it for a month).

Charger is working fine. I cheked.

Seeing RED light when connected. SMC reset shows dot changes from green to red.

But nothing manages to turn on the device.
After leaving the charger connected, it does not get hot at all.
Might be an issue of it not charging the battery (or battery died?).
Or maybe the charging part itself that moves electricity from charger to battery?
I am just guessing things here.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Really not much to go on here, but it may be a totally discharged or faulty battery. The best I can suggest is to change out the battery if you're sure the charger is functioning okay.

Here are the ifixit instructions for changing the battery. I'm not sure if they sell the replacement but OWC should have one. Apple Mac Upgrades - RAM, SSD Flash, External Drives and More

Thank you.

Let me ask you. If I disconnect the battery and plug in the charger, will the Mac turn on (assuming it's a faulty battery)?

Because I have tried that, and it won't turn on. But perhaps Apple has some mechanism for making it "know" the battery is not connected and it won't turn on because of it?

Thanks again!

Some of the earlier MacBooks and MacBook Pro machines could be operated without a battery and from the line only (with the charger). However, newer machines need a working battery installed in order to turn on and operate normally. Yours is one that needs a battery installed. I know that's a pain but it's the way Apple has designed it.

Thanks for this valuable information. I think I will have to put this device to rest. I can't think of another way as it stands (I have googled the **** out of it).

PS - I am not in the states so no Apple store to take care of this for me.

Thanks very much for the help!!!
