Hello everyone,

I certainly experience this problem with my MBP ever since I upgrade with Mac OS Mojave. I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or an issue with an update. Any idea?

Which MacBook Pro model? (Apple Menu > About This Mac)
How often does this happen?
Is there anything that seems to trigger it or is it random?
How long does it take until it shuts down after the screen glitches?
Are there any error messages?
Have you tried disconnecting everything except the power cable and booting in safe mode? (press and hold SHIFT key immediately after startup tone and release when you see Apple logo)

MBP Mid 2012 model.

It happens every now and then. Nothing specific which triggers it actually.

Previously, it shuts down then turns back on by itself, but for a couple of times, since yesterday I think, it won't restart back up. I needed to press the ON button to turn it back on again. And no, there are no error messages.

If the issue doesn't occur in safe mode, that might indicate a software issue vs. hardware. Doing a clean install of macOS might also be worth a shot as a last resort.

I'm not sure if a mid-2012 MacBook Pro would be supported by Apple anymore, and even if they do, I imagine a fix might be more expensive than it is worth given the computer's age, but you might want to contact Apple if the issue persists. Doesn't look good.

@Wedzmer:

Apple has already declared that 2012 model Macs will be considered vintage starting Jan 31, 2019. So, if you wish to have Apple diagnose your machine, you better do it real soon. ;)

That sure looks like a Video Chipset issue to me. Like Chscag said take it in ASAP before it's Vintage.
