I got my 5th MacBook Pro today, no scratches, or dents, or dead pixels. I can’t tell the edge of the glass on the other ones reflect light weird. I also can’t tell the text message sent sounds weird but movies and YouTube and music sound good.

I took my cameras flash to the edge of the glass and saw weird reflections in the cracks but I don’t know what to do?

So I don’t know if I should send this one back and get a refund, and try the process over again. Or keep it and get $150 refund to keep it.

Where or who are you buying all these MacBook Pros from? A new MacBook Pro from Apple has a 14 day return if it's not up to your liking.

Like I said above, you have 14 days to return it if purchased from Apple. It's up to you.

HUH??? Are you just out trolling and hoping to get a bite or nibble or...???

I'm surprised that Apple hasn't just cut you off.

Should I keep my Mbp i9

So this is the fifth one I got and wanted to see if what is in the red circles is considered normal tolerances for my brand new i9.

The edge like right before it meets the gasket has like a little edge, so is tbis part of the manufacturing process ?

The bottom of my laptop has this weird spec that when you move around looks stained or something is this part of process and ok?

Or should I get a refund and start over ? 76E5B62C-C73A-4EB9-A283-C7C1BB5AC916.jpeg ECAE4358-9047-4024-AFF1-7A09A02EFFF0.jpeg C49CDDE8-17C1-4355-8E10-CEEF8FE57F48.jpeg

@thedemoncowboy,

Help me out here. I'm totally confused.

You've purchased 5 MacBookPros (MBP), the first 4 having some "fault" and returned? And all from Apple direct?

Now you have number 5?

And you're asking about something at the edges?

And by referring to your MBP as i9, I'm presuming that's because it has an i9 Processor? Didn't know the model was designated as such.

Question is - does this MBP function normally? Have you put it through its paces?

I just can't get my head around the idea of 4 or 5 brand new, but damaged or otherwise incapable MBPs, being sent out by Apple.

Seem to be only cosmetic issues. Not working or functional issues.

In one of your other posts you mentioned that you're pursuing a Masters degree in clinical psychology. I know for a fact that a big part of a Psychology curriculum is quite a bit of statistics classes.

Now back to your statement I quoted above. What do you think the statistical probability is that YOU (a single consumer) got FIVE bad MacBook Pro's in a row...when the defect rate for Apple products overall is very very very low to start with??

Please put all of the expensive education to good use...and I think you have your answer!:)

Most important factor is does the thing work. I'm sticking my neck out and suggesting you may be over-finnicky. Your pix show a perfectly normal MBP.

It's up to you what sounds you want to operate when a text or other notifications come through: System Preferences > Sound...

I have the 2017 MBP. First thing I did when I got it was put a clear case on it. Keeps those pesky scratches from happening. I think you bought a very nice and powerful computer. Enjoy!

Thank you for finally posting something logical and including photos of the (quote) "problem(s)". It makes a bit more sense now.

Maybe these got put into that "error part" of the statistics area but do seem to exceed any normal norm. :Mischievous:
