I'm wondering if the Linux install tried to install GRUB, got half done, got broken, now when it tries to boot GRUB tries to do things the Mac can't/won't handle and ends up in a KP. The KPs shown all seem to be occurring in different places, but none of them have even identified what version of macOS it's trying to load. At this point I'm wondering even if somehow the machine can be boot from an external completely? Not recovery, not Safe Mode, totally external, like a USB drive or thumb drive.

Whatever it is, it's happening really early in the boot process, according to the KP reports. So has an external boot process been tried?

hi jake, you might be right. it's slowly coming back to me. i too got a feeling it had to do with a broken linux/grub. but didnt think much about it. this might be the last straw. i've ruled out most of the hardware problems. stripped everything apart from the wifi bluetooth ram dvd drive hdd.

gonna try to create a copy of linux on a usb thumbdrive and try to boot. i will keep you guys posted.

+1, and I must admit that I'm inclined to agree with you and your diagnosis Jake.

BTW: Are all non-essential peripherals disconnected???
