I received an e-mail from Apple, saying that my 13-inch MacBook Pro needed a SSD service because of an issue with the drive.
"Apple has determined that a limited number of 128GB and 256GB solid-state drives (SSD) used in 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) units have an issue that may result in data loss and failure of the drive. These units were sold between June 2017 and June 2018."
They say the drive needs to be erased and reinitialised by an Apple service center. Can I o this myself and solve the problem?

Not recommended, and they wouldn't warranty any issue that might arise from it. Also, make sure you have a good backup of all your important data.

Probably not. As you can see in the Apple document related to this issue (linked below)...it mentions:

"A technician will run a utility to update your drive firmware which will take approximately one hour or less."

In order to do this yourself...you would need:

- The "utility" the Apple technicians use (probably not easy or impossible to get).
- And you would need a copy of the updated firmware (probably not easy or impossible to get).

Hopefully there's an Apple Store not too far from you. Much better to have Apple do it.:)
