Hi All

I have a 2012 MBP, 15" display (non-retina), 2.6Ghz Quad Core i7 with 8GB, Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia GT650M, running High Sierra 10.13.6
Occasionally, I believe after switching to the Nvidia GPU, graphical glitches start to appear, these glitches can vary from small square multicoloured blocks or tearing across the application in use at the time. I have experienced these in multiple different apps such as, Launchpad, Garageband and Safari.

See the below images for examples....

Small blocks (note the GPU History which doesn't necessarily show peaks of usage):

Tearing:

Any thoughts or similar experiences from anyone?

Looking to understand whether this is software or hardware, feels like the latter(?)

Thanks

Those model years did have a suspect video card.

Welcome to our forums.

Agree with the above. Likely to be your video acting up. As Bob mentioned, those model MBPs had GPU problems and the symptoms you displayed are typical of a failing GPU.
