My email from Comcast has suddenly stopped showing up on my MBP. To the right of the account name is a circle with a tilde[?] in it that indicates a password is needed [has prominent '@' symbol]. I have used the Comcast password but that does not seem to be what it is looking for.

I have three accounts set up through the email app/client on MBP and the other two [gmail] are normal. The issue is only with Comcast email -- The last email was in late October.

I can go to Comcast and login to see it but, it is not transferring to the MBP [though it does still go to the phone].

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Whatever credentials you use to login to the Comcast Webmail should be the same ones that you can use to access the mail from Mac Mail. You might want to visit this site and check the settings of your Comcast connection. If you've confirmed that the settings are accurate and your credentials are working on their site, you should contact their customer support for it.

Be warned that the moment you mention Mac to the customer support, they will have little help to provide, but it's worth a shot anyway.

Maybe, you can add the Comcast account again? Then if it works, delete the old one, if everything propagates, or just archive it, if not?

LOL,

Thanks for the reply and the link.

I noticed that gmail were both IMAP and Concast was POP -- Not sure of the differences between the two or if that had any bearing on my issue.

Thanks for the reply. I just created a new account and the emails came flooding through.

Now it's time to sort through all of them.

* Recently had the logic board replaced [luckily still under warranty by 14 days]. Would that have anything to do with this issue?

With the new account you added, please ensure to use IMAP instead of POP. Given a choice between the two, you should always choose IMAP. IMAP allows you to keep your email synced across all devices easily where with POP you have do a few extra things and actions taken on one device do NOT reflect on other devices.

The ~ indicates the account is offline, not that it needs a password, You can get the ~ whenever the mail app cannot connect to the mail server at Comcast. Before adding any accounts or changing passwords, just click on the ~ and it will try again to go online. I, too, have Comcast service, and very often the servers don't respond immediately so I get the ~ .
