Upgrading HHD Macbook Pro Mid 2015?

I want to upgrade my 250 GB Hd on my Mid 2015 Macbook Pro i7 11,4 and want to get some information first.
I think I want to go SSD, but not sure if these drives are Mac, Win specific or not.
What SSD would you suggest I will go with at least 500 GB, probably 1TB.

I'm pretty sure, the drive in your MBP is already an SSD, probably the blade type.

I think you are correct now that I went back and looked at the order when I purchased it.

That'a a pretty nice Mac model, what or why were you considering installing an SSD???? Just being curious here…

I will use this laptop to dj so need more than 250gb of internal storage, ordered 1TB
I am not sure why I was thinking it was an HDD.

I don't want to sound pedantic, but be careful how you use terms. SSD is "storage" not "memory." Yes, it is made up of memory chips, but the chips are significantly different from the "memory" chips that are in your Mac. Memory is ephemeral, that is, when power is removed, the things stored there are gone. In fact, the data is so ephemeral that there is a significant amount of energy spent refreshing the data every few milliseconds so that it does not decay. "Storage," on the other hand, persists even with no power applied, but has the problem of being slower and having a limited life-cycle of changes. So, when you said

that was illogical in the sense of how the terms are used in computer engineering. Given you appear to have ordered from OWC, I trust that they knew what you actually wanted was an SSD for storage and that they didn't sell you a TB of memory chips.

You are correct, totally wrong on my part saying memory, was looking at the picture and reminded me of Ram Memory. I did order Internal SSD Storage.

I figured you probably did, but not everyone who comes here and reads what is posted is savvy about the technical terms. So if a tech-novice reads you bought memory, that novice may go online and order memory, too, only to be disappointed and frustrated when it arrives. Or worse yet, they tell a technician to replace the memory and the tech does exactly that.

Never underestimate the ability to be misunderstood!
