Hello everybody,
on my macbook retina 2012 stopped working the keys from q to o.
All the rest.works ok. The keys dont work also in bootcamp or safe mode.

Just sometimes, rarely, they work for few minutes when I turn on the machine, then stopped totally.

I already disassbled it and cleaned with isoprophil alcohol, without luck.

I'd like to be sure that replacing the keyboard will.solve the issue....or if can be
other causes. I've read tons of possibility in internet, even about battery pushing connectors..But
in this mac the battery is non removable...

Thanks for any opinion!

Usually, the battery is more towards the trackpad, so that's (probably) not the issue. Did any liquid get spilled on it? Also, is it the 13" or 15"?

Try an SMC reset, https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295.

Thanks for answer, yes I tried SMC.

It's a 15".
About the spill, yes. It happened 5 years ago, was almost new machine, I spilled a coffee with milk and sugar.
I immediately made disassembly and cleaning, and honestly everything worked perfectly all these years, zero issues,
I almost forgot that happened. Of course can be related. But I can be sure to change the keyboard just,
or maybe motherboard ?

It's hard to tel. You will have to switch one, to know which one is the issue. Buy the least expensive part (keyboard) and be sure to get one with a return option. This way, if it's not the defective part, you will still be able to return it. The you will have the option to buy the other part.
