I have the 15" mid 2014 Macbook Pro. It has been my workhorse and never a problem, until now. This has started happening rather frequently. It Just goes back to the log-in screen all on its own. I've noticed that it seems to do it when I'm entering numbers. it fades o black and then the log in screen pops up and I have to put in my password then it goes right back to what I was doing. Right now, it's just super-annoying but is this maybe a harbinger of bad things to come?

Sounds like something serious is going on. Anything in the logs (Console in the Utilities folder)? What version of the OS are you running? Any liquid spills on it, ever? Is the top case or back bulging out (battery swelling does this, can press on the keyboard from underneath)?

It's a harbinger, but maybe we can shortstop the "bad things" and make them not come.

There's stuff in the console but it might as well be written in Chinese for all I can make out of it. But no, nothing is swelling and I've never spilled anything on it. I just updated to the latest OS today, but this was going on before, too.
