I am running a MBP under Mojave, and it is running just fine. I do have a small problem however, i would like to run an earlier version of iTunes but it won't let me do so giving me the message " You are running and newer version "... Like i didn't already know that... that's the problem, Apple in their vast wisdom has discontinued some earlier features that i prefer and just want to run an earlier version that has those features. Anyone know how to get the job done ?

I'm afraid you're out of luck. There was a rather interesting discussion of this in another forum. Apple even went so far as to shut off the last versions of iTunes that were able to download apps from the app store. They no longer work with Mojave. So, if you want an earlier version of iTunes, you'll need to return to an older version of macOS and also be able to find an older version of iTunes to download.

From what I understand from some users at other discussion groups, even if you do manage to get an old version of iTunes running, the missingfeatures you were expecting, even if showing, probably won't even work because Apple killed them.

Microsoft with their Skype have done similar things with their updated Skype app unfortunately.

They call it "new and improved", I and others have other names for them, and not really printable here.

I'm not even sure going back as chscag mentioned will always work as Apple seems to have a habit of cutting users off old versions, but they do have some older versions still available if you want to try using them, but I wouldn't be expecting them to, especially if you are running Mohave:
