Hi! I have two MBPs here:
-2010 15" antiglare (1680x1050); 2.66GHz i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M
-2012 15" non-retina glossy (1440x900); 2.6GHz i7, Intel HD Graphics 4000 / NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M

The 2010 was my main computer since I bought it new then and I've just recently purchased the 2012 (currently in the process of upgrading the hard drive and RAM in it).

This 2012 MBP is a really good machine; the only thing that's lacking to me compared to my older machine is the display. I'm currently using RDM to stretch out to 1680x1050 when needed on the non-retina glossy (default is 1440x900), however, I'm missing the clarity of my 2010 MBP's antiglare display (default is 1680x1050).

Is it possible for me to exchange the two displays? I'd like to put the antiglare display on my 2012 MBP and my glossy display on my 2010 MBP. I've seen a few mentions of this on forums from over the years, but figured it was worth seeing if I could find any new information on if this is possible or if it's a really terrible idea. : )

Thanks!

Here's how I would approach this project. Go to a website like PowerbookMedic...and search the display parts for both computers. If the part description mentions compatibility for both MacBook Pro models mentioned...then it should work...since PowerbookMedic is usually pretty good with this sort of thing. And if there are any doubts...ask PowerbookMedic first before ordering.

Problem is (many times)...Apple likes to redesign things...which means cable connectors , cable connection locations, and cable lengths change. Which can mean incompatibility in parts.

Check it out...and please let us know what you find (always possible someone else out there has the same question).:)

Hey Nick, thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I looked around some more online and found these posts that describe modifications to the connector, since Powerbook Medic doesn't list them as compatible:
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View...between+early+2011+and+mid+2012+mbp+13+inches
https://www.ifixit.com/Answers/View...es+LCD+to+High+Res+compatibility#answer190518

I still need to research a little bit more before deciding to go for it myself! : )
