New 15" MBP

Just been given one of these for my 80th. and what a beautiful machine.

However, one little niggle, there;'s no "charging" indicator either on the cable or computer. You have to open the lid to see the charge status.

I wonder why?

Since the USB-C port is being used for multiple things, including charging, a specific LED indicating charging isn't supported. If plugged in, the MBP will be charging, the lock screen shows the percentage. Not much else you can do about this.

Just seems a bit odd to drop this useful indicator. As you say, that's the way it is!

They went from a single-purpose connector (MagSafe) to a multi-purpose one and with that transition you are bound to gain some features and lose some. The charging LED is one. You also lost the glowing Apple decal from the cover of your MBP, which I was actually fond of.

Bob, nope. No external charging indicator of any sort. If the lid is closed and you open it, you get a big battery indicator showing current charge percentage.

No, this was the reason for my original (little) gripe!

Me too, that and the POST chime. Both gone forever, I'm afraid.
