Hey guys,
I bought a macbook Pro retina late 2013, a couple months ago second hand. Its performs flawlessly but it shuts down randomly. It takes a while the first time i turn it on (about 20 minutes or so) and then after that, every time i turn it on it shuts down after a minute or two. I did a hardware test and everything passed. I did an SMC reset and it still does it.
BUT, I can load into safeboot just fine and it will NEVER shut off on its own. When i reinstall OS, which takes a while, it stays on the whole time and doesnt shut down.
I took it to a genius bar and of course while he used it, it never shut down. And he pushed the CPU buy running apps and opening a bunch of youtube videos at the same time. He ran a bunch of in depth hardware tests on all the hardware components and they all passed. The fans were running fine and keeping it cool. I got home and turned it on and it started shutting down right away on me!
I've reinstalled High Sierra 4 times and it still does it, so I'm certain its a hardware issue but i cant figure out what it is. Is it a failing logic board? He didnt think it was, but because it never shut down on him he didnt really have an answer for me.
Anywho, i thought i'd post here and see if anyone might have any suggestions or help. I've tried everything, and I can't figure out whats wrong, which leads me to believe its just a failing logic board and nothing else.
Thanks in advance if anyone can offer any help.
