Hi guys..

So I have this Macbook Pro Early 2015 the 13" one.. when turning on seems to be fine but after logging in theres a lightning thunder-like appearing on the screen.. has this happen to anyone of you? Am I the only one? I bought it February of this year.
It does not show up everytime.. just randomly. Maybe 8x now.
MAC OS X EL CAPITAL 10.11.6

Here is the link:

I took a pause from the video due to the quick disappearance.. at 15 seconds onwards frame. Please see attached photo.

Is it alarming? I have never experience so far any problem with my mac except that lightning thing.

Thank you in advance..

If you bought the MBP in February of this year, you are still under the 1 year AppleCare and you should take this back to your nearest Apple Store immediately to show it to them. This is not normal and might indicate either a failure GPU or LCD. Either way, it should be checked while you still have the warranty and hopefully resolved to your satisfaction.

If you do get it fixed and have not purchased the additional two years of AppleCare, I'd strongly advice on doing that before the 1 year expiration mark..

Excellent, unless you've physically damaged the system, any potential fix should be covered under the warranty. As far AppleCare goes, you get 1 year for free from the date of purchase (as long as it's a new or refurbished Mac). Before the 1st year (based on purchase date) expires, you can purchase an additional 2 years for $249.

The warning symbol means that Apple Care Plus is still available to be purchased for your Mac. You have until January 2, to purchase and activate. I just purchased, on ebay, Apple Care Plus for my Mac mini for $40.

Mac Mini costs less than the Macbook Pro and doesn't have things like the screen and so on. Don't compare AppleCare prices for other Macs. The iMac is going to be a different price than the Macbook pro and so on.

AppleCare IS the factory warranty that will protect your machine for 3 years (if you purchase the remaining two) against manufacturing defects or other recalls. If some part of your logicboard fails next Summer, you're looking at a conservative price of $750 to replace it. If you had AppleCare, then that would be free short of any deductible based on what the damage was.

So your choice, you spend the $250 to protect against issues for 2 more years starting Jan 2017 or you roll the dice that nothing bad happens to your machine or if it does, you fork over the substantial higher price to get things fixed.

What can you advice, you think I should get it?

You have until January to decide, but my recommendation is that you get the additional 2 years of AppleCare just for the peace of mind. Look around on Amazon, BHPhoto and other places that do sell AppleCare to see if you can find it any lesser than price than was Apple offers it for.

Did you validate it with Apple? Lots of folks bought counterfeit Apple Care or Apple Care Plus on eBay and later found out it was bogus. I do not trust eBay sellers of Apple Care. Hope yours is valid. ;D

You can purchase it, but you can not use it to extend the warranty for this MBP. Apple will only cover the MBP for the first three years.

And before the another 2 year apple care expires? Can I still purchase another?

No, a total of 3 years of AppleCare is available. The first year is included for "free" with the purchase of your Apple product and before that first year elapses, you can purchase an additional 2 years. After that, there is no Apple warranty program, but you can always explore third party programs at that point.

Hi again, Ashwin, people..

Some update on my case..
2 days ago I brought my MBP to the apple authorized center. But before that, I performed a diagnostics I got the PPT004 error that says the battery needs to be serviced...but I don't experience and problem with the battery, probably or maybe its not that obvious at that time.
So when I got to Apple authorized center I also reported that error.
I called just today to follow up what has been happening with my machine, they said that they have to replace the main board.
I asked what about the battery error..
They said they will check if that battery error also is coming from faulty main board..
That will take up to 2 days because theyre waiting for the hardware.

I hope everything will go just fine after the repair.

The mainboard replacement is usually the ultimate fix for what ails a Mac, so hopefully that will address your graphical issue and anything else they may find. Keep us updated..
