Hello everyone,

These past few days, I've been dealing with persistent wifi problems on my mid-2014 MacBook Pro. I'm constantly having to turn off and on my wifi (which I've done about 3 times in the last 20 minutes or so) in order for pages, videos, and mail to load. Whenever I wait, Chrome tells me that there is no internet connection, despite the fact that my Mac tells me I am connected to the internet. I've never encountered this problem before about a week or so ago when I returned home from college (side note, I did not have this issue with my college's wifi) and this issue does not occur on any of my other devices. So far, all I've tried doing is resetting my router.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! This is also my first post here, so if I'm missing anything please let me know. Thank you!

Since you say none of the other devices are having any problems here are a few things you can try.

1. Download Onyx and run the automation feature. This will correct and clean out all kinds of junk. Also download Malwarebytes for Mac and run it - just to be sure no nasties are lurking.
2. Open System Preference -> Network -> Advanced -> check and make sure under TCP/IP that IPv4 is set to "Using DHCP" and IPv6 is set to "automatically."
3. Still in the Network Advanced section check your WiFi networks. I would delete your home network and then re-add it back in. Also clear out networks you no longer use. Make sure nothing is checked except to remember networks you have connected to.
4. Now in Network Advanced look at Proxy and make sure nothing is checked unless you know why it would be.

The other issue might be with Chrome. Try using Safari and see if that makes a difference. It is a stretch but won't hurt to try. Post back with what you found or how it went.

Since you were using your MBP at school OK, the network settings are probably still setup for accessing WiFi at the school. You need to make sure you identify your home network and go to WiFi settings on your MBP and make sure your home network is at the top for selection. Also follow Lisa's advice above. Let us know.

And a quick question. Any other phones in the house? If so they all require filters.

I would probably reboot your router as well.

One other thought. I have run across universities that require running an app package that sets up the connections and usually involves anti-virus in order to use their internet. Would that be an issue here? Just asking.

Last weekend my wifi was constantly dropping out over about 48 hours. Rang my ISP last night and it was a problem at their end. Took about 30 minutes on the phone but it's sorted.
