Broken macbook pro screen

Hi.. When I turn my macbook pro laptop on, I hear the chime, then colourful vertical lines come up over the whole screen. Then 2 seconds later the screen turns black and flickers continuously?? The apple logo on the front is still lit up?? Can somebody tell me what's broken and can it be fixed? Thankyou

Anything can be fixed. It's just a matter of cost…and is it worth the cost to repair it (you didn't tell us what model MacBook Pro this is).

Did anything happen to this computer…such as a drop/fall…or hard bump.

Otherwise as Sue mentioned…could be a logic board failure (graphics)…or a bad/loose video cable.

You could also try plugging an external display into the MacBook Pro…and see if things look ok on the external display. If same thing happens on the external display…then the problem is most likely logic board/graphics. If things on the external display are fine…then the MacBook Pro's display has something wrong with it.
