I have a 15" Macbook Pro with Retina display. Model A1494. I was told it is a MacbookPro11.2 based upon the Model and serial# combination.

Water spilled on it and it does not boot. I would like to remove the SSD (Solid State Drive) - Samsung from the broken laptop and insert it into a connection that will then have a USB connection to allow it to be read by another Macbook Pro.

I am not looking for long-term enclosure of this SSD (i.e. converting it to a portable hard drive) like the following solution for $109.

I am looking for a short-term (once) device for a price of $20 to $40 max.

I have found some cards that would plug into a desktop but not interested in that. It needs to be a USB connection to another laptop. It seems this type of device is very limited because the SSD connection I have is a PCIe connection in the form of the following:

Please tell me if you know of any solution....

Thanks

Nathan

This is a "Late 2013" model MacBook Pro. I did some searching…and it seems that the connector used for the drive in Late 2013 MBP's is non-standard (proprietary). It was much easier to adapt things with earlier 2012 and Early 2013 MBP's. But not many options (at this time) for Late 2013 MBP's…other than the $109 OWC option.

I hate to mention it. But if the data on this drive was backed up somewhere (like we all should do in a perfect world)…accessing that data would be much easier & less expensive). We never know when accidents or hardware failures will occur.

Sorry I could not be a much more help.
