"C" Key Not Working (Replaced by Command + C)

Hi All,

I'm having an issue with my keyboard that is really annoying and would like any help or trouble shooting tips you could provide.

When I opened up my computer from sleep mode this morning, the "C" key no longer works properly. Every time I press "C", it actually is the function Command + C instead. So I basically end up using the shortcut for Copy every time I press the "C" key.

It's almost inexplicable as to why this started happening, everything else is working fine.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and a Macbook Pro 13' 2009.

Hello - welcome to the forum! Sorry about your problem - first, was their any damage to the KB, especially liquid spills? If not, do you have access to a USB or BT (Bluetooth) KB to try w/ the laptop - just wondering if the problem is the C key itself or another issue?

If another KB works w/ the C key, then I suspect that you'll need a professional evaluation and possible repair of the KB - make sure that you have a backup(s) of your computer if the decision is to have it repaired. Also, if you have a can of compressed air, try some gentle & short bursts of air around the key - who knows? Good luck - Dave

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm using a BT KB now and the "C" key works fine. It must be something w/ the Macbook's KB itself. I'm not sure what could have happened, since I didn't notice anything last night before putting the computer in sleep mode, but I'll have it looked at.

Thanks for the troubleshooting tips and for reminding me to backup my HD before having it repaired.
